Your press needs to be slightly bigger than the largest item you want to produce.

Example
If you bought a 16″ x 20″ (40 x 50 cm) heat press, the Unisub item you are pressing cannot exceed a maximum of 15″ x 19″ (38 x 48 cm).

Using the total available size of your heat press will result in badly sublimated edges caused by a lack of heat and pressure.

Always ask your heat press reseller to confirm the maximum useful size.

Sublimation inks and pigment inks are very different. Therefore we do not recommend this. You can find out more about sublimation inks, printers, papers, and other items needed for sublimation from any of our distributors.

Using sublimation paper is essential for achieving the perfect quality and color output on your products.

If you are sublimating small format products, we recommend several brands for use with hard substrates. Small format products are compatible with almost any sublimation paper sold by our distributors. We recommend reading the specifications of the printer manufacturer.

A few things to keep in mind when deciding on a paper choice.

  • The paper must be heavy enough (more than 100 gsm) to absorb the ink volume needed for hard substrates.
  • If you experience any cockling or vertical banding (too much ink on the paper or bad machine vacuum), you can try a heavier 140 gsm paper.
  • The paper must be able to resist the expansion of the metal (otherwise it will create dust particles or fibers during the sublimation process).
  • It must release the inks equally during the sublimation process.
  • Always stock your paper in the same room where your printer is located.
  • Keep the paper dry and at room temperature.
